Thank you Pete, for your very comments. Wondering which duet you mean with Billy - perhaps the traveller album? I've got some really interesting ones from some of those tours. Pity they're just on cassette. The Proto Cosmos audio sample by the way - I've a feeling someone sent me that, was myself and Allan. Only ever played that with Allan, and the only authorised recording of us playing it is on a recent live album (from 1990) called "Then!". Wild to hear you went to Tony for lessons ... and that Allan answered the door!! i remember a lot of stories Al would tell me about Tony begging him to go with him to a Buddy Rich concert ... several times!! Wild stuff!

While it's mentioned, did anybody who knows this track ever spot the bad edit in the IOU album 'Letters Of Marque' drum solo!!????

I've lived with it for over twenty years!

It was actually a longer drum solo and it kinda fell apart later on, so as I remember Allan made a choice 'snip' when I wasn't around - leading right into the bit where it settles into the 4/4 phrase repeated four times before the band comes back in. It's right on the fill that sets up that 4 times repeated beat!

Thing is, that solo is largely in 4/4 - loosely speaking, throughout. Because of that edit it's got a rather awkward, unnatural 5/4 sounding fill into there, and it has bugged the hell out of me since 1980!

Guitar players!! What are you gonna do!

Now, finally, there's a prospect of a remix, and since Allan has the multi tracks I'm thinking of buying a ticket to fly to LA purely to oversee a fresh (and correct!) edit!!

I've ribbed Allan about it for years now.
